Finally getting the hang of this posting business....

Finally figured out what was wrong as I tried to post to this blog --- I was using the wrong username. Since I'm posting the photos using Google's free software combo of Picasa2 and Hello from Picasa, I was able to get the pictures up because the freakin' software remembered the username I had setup, but I couldn't remember it myself. Anyway, it's all straightened out, and it's back to darts, and other Portland and PADA stuff.

Don't know how many new teams we're going to have this upcoming season, but a few teams have broken up/disbanded for various reasons. Since the finals event last Saturday was extremely well received, I'm hoping we'll see a few more sign-ups this Thursday during last-chance sign ups at the A&L. For those who don't know where it is, it's on the corner of NE Glisan and 60th. Gregg Sloan informed me that it would be going on around 6:30pm.

Rumor central: Look out A division! Could be that the Backyard Bullies are heading back into league action. Consider Alan Nutter, Jim Pope and Tommy Baracco on the same team - yikes! These guys were the core of a team that fair well dominated A division several years ago when I was doing stats, and I remember their average winning score was something like 42-6 all season long. Nutter and Pope seemed to always go undefeated in singles '01 and cricket. I guess we'll see if it all pans out, but I'd like to see them come back and give the rest of us something to aim at. Got the old guns, lassoes and pointy little darts all loaded, lubed up and ready to go.

One thing about last Saturday's PADA finals event at the Dragon's Lair, it was great hanging out with a lot of the players I haven't crossed paths with as much lately from other divisions. I began in C, spent a few seasons there, dropped to D for a season (will never figure that one out, esp. on a team that had Ian Griffiths, Alan Rogers, John Weisensee and myself...,) played a couple of seasons in B with Scot Thelin and co., and finally made it to A division three seasons ago. A lot of the players in the house Saturday I have played with or against in the past, and frankly I really enjoyed seeing them. The idea of doing all the division finals in one venue, and adding singles championships really made it a league-wide happening, and the buzz, at least to my ears, beat the atmosphere at both the Oregon Open or the Portland Open. This was a totally local tournament flavored event, which had many participants playing for something real, and brought a lot of other league players around to witness the action, and then play the blind draw afterwards. There was something for everyone, and you can't beat that.

I'll be continuing to post more pictures from the finals, as well as general photos I've shot at the Horse Brass and A&L. Stay tuned, local dartheads. Oh, and feel free to comment on any post. I'll keep the priveleges fairly liberal, unless someone gets really cute...
