0-3
First thing - it's been a struggle to get on the road to baja, and now the jump-off is scheduled (we'll see) for Sunday. So, I joined the rest of the Cash Cowboys (or is it Cash Cow Boys...?) to take on the nasty crew of Greg's Backyard, the Backyard Brawlers at their house. It was a fun night, if you can call taking a 41-8 beating fun, and we actually competed quite well with the Nutter, Pope, Doty, Baracco crew. I even hit a few highlights (three 140s, 123 with first 2 in the trip 20, and the third a wire away in the trip 1, and a 103 on) and felt quite solid with the darts, but it's a given that you have to take the game out no later than your second opportunity against these guys. We just didn't do that often enough. It seemed every time I followed Mike Doty to the line, I had to match a ton or better. It did make me step up my game, but top to bottom this is a team to reckon with.
I've been a little short on the pictures lately, which will change as I return from baja. In exchange, I'm just letting myself ramble on.
I met a soft-tip playing couple last night at Greg's Backyard, and they were impressed with the nature of the competitive atmosphere as they watched our match. In particular the spirit of fair play and lack of trash talking compared to their own experience in soft-tip darts. The same guys we were playing also regularly play soft-tip, and it was noted that they were a lot quieter as they played steel-tip. Yes, folks. It still is a gentlemen's game - for the ladies too. A bit more polite, a bit more civilized, a bit more pure, a bit more serious and definately more friendly. That's my take, and I'm sticking with it.
Maybe I'll drop in again before hitting the road.
